Sane withdraws from Germany squad for ‘private reasons’

Leroy Sane has withdrawn from the Germany squad for “private reasons”.

The Manchester City winger was brought on as a late substitute when he replaced Marco Reus in the 83rd minute as Joachim Low’s men drew 0-0 with France in the UEFA Nations League opener on Thursday.

But he will miss the friendly against Peru on Sunday with permission from the coach.

“Sane has left the team hotel in Munich after consultation with national coach Joachim Low on Friday for private reasons,” the DFB tweeted on Friday.

Thursday’s appearance was Sane’s 11th for the national team and marked his return after missing out on a place in the World Cup squad.

The 22-year-old played a key role as City won the Premier League title last season, but his three appearances this season have come off the bench.

He was left out of the squad for last week’s win over Newcastle, as Goal learned Pep Guardiola is unhappy with the former Schalke star’s attitude. However, the coach insisted Sane missed out because there are too many attackers in the team.
