Chelsea’s Eden Hazard hints at potential Real Madrid move

Eden Hazard has once again opened the door to joining Real Madrid, but has not discarded the idea of remaining at Chelsea.

The Chelsea forward has been linked with a move to Real Madrid at various stages in his career and spoke of his desire to make a switch to the Spanish capital after last summer’s World Cup.

Hazard has won the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Premier League twice during his time at Stamford Bridge but is now inside the final 18 months of his Chelsea contract.

Asked by France Football if a move to Real would please him, Hazard said: “Why not? You know it very well. You’re asking the question, but you know what the answer will be so you don’t have to ask it.

“I’ve won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean I’m leaving. I’ve always said that I wanted to explore something different after England but there are also things that might make me stay.

“After the World Cup, I wanted to leave, but in the end I stayed at Chelsea and I’m playing one of the best seasons so far.”

Hazard, who grew up idolising former Real manager Zinedine Zidane, said the lure of moving to the Bernabeu is not diminished despite the World Cup winner’s departure as the club’s head coach at the end of last season.

But Hazard insisted his future is in no way influenced by Zidane’s next career move, adding: “If he goes to Manchester tomorrow, for instance, I will not be going there.”
