Insurance bets are made when the dealer shows an ace, enabling players to make a side bet up to half their original wager. The player who precisely guessed the dealer has the blackjack has their insurance bet doubled but will lose their initial stake.
While it sounds like a safe bet, many experts do not recommend it. The ace’s introductory discrepancy is 30%, considered a low value since the casino will only pay you 2:1 when the dealer indeed has a blackjack.
The odds must be at least 3:2 to be valuable. That is $3.00 for every two bets or one and a half times the wager, which is only possible when the player’s hand is blackjack.
