How to Play Seven-card Stud
In most cases, unlike other poker variations, seven-card stud poker does not use community cards and does not have a flop round. Before having their hands, players must ante a nominal amount. Then, the dealer initially deals with two hidden cards and one exposed card, called the “Third Street.”
The player with the lowest exposed card would make the first bet while the others must bet the amount of the bring-in, if not a total bet of the lower betting increment. The betting round continues until every wager is called.
Subsequently, each player receives another exposed card, also referred to as the “Fourth Street.” Unlike during the Third Street, the player with the highest exposed card starts the action on this round by checking or betting the lower betting increment.
Then, each player receives another exposed card called “Fifth Street.” The one with the highest card will once again start the betting round. Also, beginning this round, all bets are in big bet increments. The “Sixth Street,” another exposed card, will be dealt to each player before another betting round ensues.
Then, each player receives their final card, which is dealt face down, followed by the final betting round. If more than one player remains, a showdown will happen. The last bettor shows their card first. If there was no bet, the player on the earliest seat shows their card first. All hands are exposed around the table, and the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. When players have identical poker hands, the pot will be equally divided among players having the said hand.
